Writing an Acoustic Bill of Quantities
By Thermofriz Team · Updated 25 October 2026
Prepare an acoustic BOQ with complete assembly descriptions, quantities, units, interfaces, accessories and clear measurement rules for comparable bids.
Describe a buildable item
A line reading “acoustic panel” leaves too much undecided. Identify the intended location, material family, finish and the associated construction. State whether backing insulation, cavities, subframes and fixings are part of the item or separate lines. Link the description to drawings and technical requirements. This reduces the chance that bidders price visibly similar but functionally different systems.
Set consistent quantity and measurement rules
Explain how openings, small returns, corners, waste and cutting are measured. Use suitable units for panels, suspended elements, doors, seals and specialist junction work. Do not hide a large number of accessories inside an undefined allowance. Where dimensions or existing conditions are uncertain, identify provisional quantities or a remeasurement process rather than presenting an assumption as a confirmed scope.
Include the work that makes the system complete
Allocate access equipment, surface preparation, protection, storage, setting out, coordination and inspections. Identify who closes service penetrations and finishes around acoustic elements. Define the documentation and acceptance required at handover. Thermofriz can review a BOQ against the proposed manufacturing and contracting scope, raising clarifications where quantities, details or responsibilities do not yet support a reliable price.
