Acoustic Material Samples and Mockup Approval

By Thermofriz Team · Updated 25 October 2026

Use acoustic samples and mockups to approve texture, colour, edges, joints, mounting and maintenance details without confusing appearance approval with performance evidence.

Use samples to answer visual and practical questions

Review texture, colour, edge finish, perforation pattern and the appearance under the room’s actual lighting. Compare samples at the intended viewing distance rather than only at a desk. Record whether the sample is representative of normal material variation. For natural or textured products, an agreed reference range may be more useful than expecting every panel to be visually identical.

Make the mockup include real junctions

A flat panel on a bench cannot show corners, perimeters, cut-outs, access hatches or the relationship to adjacent finishes. Build a representative sample area with the proposed support, backing and fixing method. Include details likely to be repeated across the project. Coordinate services and inspect the concealed work before it is covered. This helps identify installation and appearance problems while changes are still manageable.

Keep the approval record precise

Record the product, finish, batch or reference sample, approved detail and any conditions. A visual approval does not replace acoustic, fire or structural review. Changes to paint, facing, perforations or backing should be checked for their effect on the proposed system. Thermofriz can discuss samples and a coordinated mockup as part of manufacturing, supply or contracting enquiries, with responsibilities agreed for the particular project.
