Selecting Fabric for Acoustic Panels

By Thermofriz Team · Updated 25 October 2026

Review acoustic fabric facing through sound transparency, backing, cleaning, fire documentation and the complete panel construction.

Review the facing with its core

The fabric is one component of a panel. Ask how the proposed facing, adhesive and backing relate to the tested product. A visually similar alternative can have a different weave or coating. Obtain a sample of the actual proposed material and avoid accepting a generic fabric description in the purchase schedule.

Make appearance decisions at realistic scale

Review colour under the project lighting and inspect seams, corners and panel joints. For large walls, agree the fabric direction and how batch variations will be managed. Check whether printing, protective treatment or a decorative overlay changes the construction. Confirm these details before using a small swatch as the sole approval reference.

Plan cleaning and replacement

Obtain the supplier’s care instructions and check them against expected use. Public areas may need more durable finishes or replaceable modules. Document how damaged fabric can be replaced without changing the core or mounting. Fire documentation must apply to the relevant product and intended use; a fabric certificate alone does not establish every property of a completed wall system.
