Wood Wool Acoustic Panel Mounting and Backing

By Thermofriz Team · Updated 25 October 2026

Check wood wool acoustic board mounting, cavity depth, backing, fixings and service coordination against the specified assembly.

Specify an assembly rather than a board name

Record the selected board, thickness, edge, finish and module. Add the supporting system, backing and any cavity behind it. Compare the supplier’s acoustic report with this arrangement. A result from a backed ceiling assembly should not be assumed to apply to an unbacked panel fixed directly to a wall.

Review the supporting construction

Check the substrate, fixing pattern and loads with the responsible designer and supplier. Coordinate panel joints, corners and perimeter trims before ordering. Keep the installation accessible where services require maintenance. Panels should not be relied on as a structural support for unrelated fittings unless that use has been specifically designed and approved.

Protect the specified finish

Confirm handling, storage and cleaning instructions, particularly on refurbishment sites where wet work or dust may affect the finish. Agree the approach to cutting and replacement pieces. If repainting is contemplated, obtain product-specific guidance because an unsuitable coating can obstruct the open surface. Keep a small approved sample and the final assembly record for future maintenance.
