Acoustic Panel Fixings and Substrate Coordination

By Thermofriz Team · Updated 25 October 2026

Coordinate acoustic wall and ceiling panel fixings with substrates, loads, concealed services and replacement access.

Confirm the supporting surface

Record whether the panel attaches to concrete, masonry, board construction or a separate frame. Inspect the condition, flatness and any coatings that may affect attachment. Locate concealed services before drilling. Where the substrate differs from the design assumption, obtain approval for the revised detail rather than improvising an attachment on site.

Coordinate loads and the panel system

Check panel weight, orientation, fixing spacing and the required supporting members. Ceiling installations require particular care because detachment can injure occupants. The responsible designer and supplier should address load and safety requirements. Do not use decorative acoustic panels to carry lights, signage or equipment unless the arrangement has been specifically designed.

Keep installation and replacement practical

Agree setting-out tolerances, joint alignment, perimeter trims and how damaged modules will be removed. If concealed clips are used, record their positions and release method. Inspect representative work before the full installation proceeds. Retain approved fixing details and installation records at handover so future maintenance does not rely on guesswork.
