Acoustic Partition Junctions: Floors, Ceilings and Services
By Thermofriz Team · Updated 25 October 2026
Detail acoustic partition junctions, perimeter seals, ceiling voids, floors and penetrations for a coordinated room separation.
Draw the boundary in section
A plan alone may hide the routes above and below a partition. Show the slab, ceiling void, raised floor and any continuous elements. Confirm where the separating construction starts and ends. Identify how it meets columns, facades and adjacent walls, then review those details against the intended acoustic and fire requirements.
Specify and inspect interfaces
Record the approved perimeter and penetration details, including the compatible sealants or tested systems where required. Coordinate movement needs and substrate conditions with the responsible designer. Service trades should know which openings need reinstatement. Photograph representative concealed junctions before closure instead of relying only on an end-of-project visual check.
Protect the boundary through fit-out
Later cabling, joinery and service changes can reopen a completed separation. Assign responsibility for reviewing and closing new penetrations. Include doors and glazing in the final room check. Retain as-built details and maintenance instructions so that future refurbishment recognises the critical junctions and does not treat them as ordinary decorative gaps.
